Catching up with LEAPS Graduates

This is a continuing series where we spotlight LEAPS graduates to see how the program has impacted their lives.

Andrew Luckett, University of Louisville, class of 2013 (LEAPS 2012)
Integrative Medicine Interest Group

I founded the IMIG at my medical school. We held lunch meetings with integrative practitioners, MDs and others, from the university and community. We also partnered with the university cancer center and the Mindfulness Studies Program in initiating a mindfulness meditation group. The group lives on today as students have continued to lead the project into further connections, including starting food stamp programs with local farmers markets to increase access to local healthy food for the underserved. Exposure: 100 students. As noted above, the group lives on. The student who led the group the year after I did also attended LEAPS and used his training to further the reach of the program. He established connections with another interested student who is currently the head of the group.
